Adding a Twitter Profile

In the ‘Introduction‘, you’d have learnt all about setting up a Selasdia account, logging into it, and configuring the tracker.

This quick start guide will teach you configure Selasdia to read and send messages from your Twitter account.

This step integrates Selasdia with your Twitter account.

One advantage of allowing your team to access your Twitter account through Selasdia is that the confidentiality of the passwords is maintained.

Configuring a Twitter Profile

In order to let Selasdia control your Twitter account, you have to supply it with four pieces of information:

They are the Consumer Key, Consumer Secret, Access Token and the Access Token Secret.

You can get these from Twitter by going to dev.twitter.com and logging in using your Twitter account.

Remember that after you complete these steps, you will never need to give your Twitter password to Selasdia or to any representative from Aiaioo Labs (phishing trip-wire).

After logging in, use the “My applications” link at the top right of the screen to view your applications.

If you don’t have an application, create one. Scroll down and you will see the consumer key and secret.

Now we’ll need to change your Access Level (the first line in the OAuth Settings).

If it is “Read messages”, switch to the Settings tab and change the Access Level to either “Read and Write” or “Read, Write and Access Direct Messages”.

Return to the Details tab. At the bottom of the page, you will see a button that will allow you to create an access token.

Press the button to create the access token. You will now see your access token and access token secret.

You now have all the information you need to create your Twitter profile.

Create a new Twitter profile (from the View drop down in the home page, select Twitter Profiles, then click New Twitter Profile) and enter the Twitter page’s account name.

The Twitter profile is the most important setting for Selasdia. It uses the Twitter profile to listen to your existing customers and to engage prospects.

Congratulations

You have just given Selasdia access to your Twitter account.

Now if you like, you can learn about running campaigns to engage your customers and prospects.
