Adding a Google Search Profile

In the 'Introduction', you'd have learnt all about setting up a Selasdia account, logging into it, and configuring the tracker.

This quick start guide will teach you to configure Selasdia to search using the Google Custom Search API.

This step integrates Selasdia with your Google account.

Configuring a Google Profile

In order to let Selasdia search the web, you have to supply it with Google API Key.

You can get this from Google by going to https://code.google.com/apis/console and logging in using your Google account.

Click on "Create project" button to create a new Google API Project if you do not have one already. You will now see an "APIs and Auth" link on the left of the screen. Click on it and you will see a list of APIs to enable or disable.

You need to enable the Custom Search API. Turn the "Off" button to "On" to enable the Custom Search API.

You have now enabled custom search.

Use the "Registered apps" link under "APIs and auth" to register a new web application.

Click on the "Register App" button on the top.

Once you have registered a new web application, click on "Server Key" to get your API Key.

Pricing and Billing

The API provides 100 search queries per day for free. If you need more, you may sign up for billing in the Cloud Console. Additional requests cost $5 per 1000 queries, up to 10k queries per day.

Visit https://code.google.com/apis/console and use the "Settings" link on the left to enable billing.
